PROFILE Val’s relationship with GAC began in 2006 when her husband joined the GAC Group.
Her original training was in nursing, and later in orthopedics, which allowed her to work and build experience in very varied areas of the profession. She loved the daily challenges that the job entailed, especially in the accident and emergency environment, as well as leading and training large teams of staff. In the mid-1990s she changed her direction and added a teaching qualification that allowed her to work with people of various age groups and abilities in both teaching and curriculum development. She found sharing information with others to be challenging and rewarding, and continues to promote a philosophy of lifelong learning.
This sets Val up perfectly as the facilitator of the HSSE course for GCA, with her extensive First Aid and HSSE training at the level of Trainer/ Assessor. She also worked in examination marking at the GCSE/"A" level/BTEC courses all levels.
In her spare time, she enjoy spending time with her family and friends, as well as taking motorbike holidays with her husband of 30 years, scuba diving, swimming and walking as often as possible, which she believes to help keep her young. |
