PROFILE Joachim began his international journey in 2003, moving to Bahrain as coordinator at (blue) Liner Agency for US Government shipments from and to the Persian Gulf. After being promoted and made responsible for the Service Delivery in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia he moved on to the Regional Office in Dubai as Regional Service Delivery Manager. This was a cross functional responsibility for the entire Middle East region, to ensure the highest standards and performance target was met at all time – named best region three years in a row!
In April 2008, Joachim embraced the opportunity to join GAC as Business Process Manager for Shipping Services, and says "It is a great privilege to work with the local companies from a Group level, as an internal consultant, and providing facilitation and expertise in helping people strive to improve their processes and utilising of tools. It is particularly important that we make sure we reduce risk and exposure and meet the GAC Spirit – in my view 'no detail is too small, and no effort is too great', in terms of being proactive and able to foresee what can happen, and prevent same." In an effort to learn more about GAC, Joachim enrolled in the Academy’s Introduction to the GAC World (IGW) course, which was completed with distinction, same with the following course such as VY-GV, Information Technology in the GAC World (ITG), GAC Shipping Business (GSB) and PAD. Subsequently, Joachim has been instrumental in designing and providing content to the Ship Agency Operations (SAO) as a subject matter expert. He is also facilitating the course, providing opportunity to interact directly with the participants and receive instant feedback. Joachim sees e-learning as an absolute must in today’s community, where we need to provide education to the Facebook generation and not the Flintstone generation. The tools of today are providing excellent opportunities, and we need to be geared to provide the best possible education on individual level. Joachim is looking forward to sharing best practices from the Group level, and believes this will improve efficiency and effectiveness. This has a direct link to the revenue generation, if done properly, with the buy-in from relevant stakeholders. |
