PROFILE Crystal originally hails from one of the busiest port cities of India – Mumbai, but has been living in Dubai since mid-2011, having moved three times in the last 6 years between India, Hong Kong and the UAE.
Crystal’s interest in Finance and Accounting led her to pursue 3 years of Internship in an audit firm from 1998 to 2001. These were crucial years in increasing her knowledge in corporate accounting, auditing and taxation and helped her complete the first year CA examination. However before she could go further, she immersed in the corporate world with her first full time job in Oil and Gas Industry. The demands of the job and practical experience led to her studies taking a back seat.
Now with a career span of over 10 years in corporate accounting, system, developing and implementing financial and operational controls, budgeting, inventory and cost accounting, system implementation and process enhancement experiences, she remains highly enthusiastic about the challenges in the finance field.
As a diligent accountant who likes to challenge the status quo and recommend improvements, Crystal has worked in several industries including Oil and Gas, Mineral and Mining, Trading and the Retail industry and believes that finance is the lifeblood of any business.
Crystal sees online learning as an exciting new opportunity to share and learn and is full of enthusiasm about her role as facilitator of the GAC Finance Essentials (GFE) course. She brings not only passion but extensive financial experience in related industries to the GFE course. In fact since her early experiences of teaching whilst in university, she has maintained a keen interest in being part of the learning processes of others.
In between raising two children, working full time and managing her home, she enjoy walking, reading, baking cakes and trying to stay thin. And if someone could invent a way for her to read during a 4 km run she says she would be even happier! |
