GAC was named "Shipping Agent of the Year" and presented with a special Judges' Award for "Outstanding Contribution to Training" at the inaugural Supply Chain and Transport Awards 2007 held in Dubai last week. Organised by the prominent supply chain and transportation publications of ITP, the largest business and consumer magazine publisher in the Middle East, the Awards acknowledge outstanding transportation and logistics firms in the region that have gone above and beyond in terms of innovation and industry contribution. The Awards aim to set the gold standard for the Middle East's transportation and logistics industries. Winners of 15 categories, selected by an independent panel consisting of renowned industry figures, were presented with their prizes at a prestigious gala dinner held at the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai, UAE. Jan Farnelid, GAC Group Vice President, Human Resources, received the award for "Outstanding Contribution to Training" on behalf of the company. He said: "Investing in human capital is tantamount to investing in the future of GAC. The GAC Corporate Academy creates a platform where our people can develop skills critical to their personal and professional growth through harnessing the power of eLearning in cross-cultural, cross-borders settings." He said: "Clinching this award is testament to our clients' recognition and appreciation of our shipping services. We wish to thank our customers and the judges for this recognition, which will motivate us to achieve even higher standards in the industry." |
