Strategy Focussed Organisations are defined as those organisations that successfully achieve strategic focus and alignment. Vision Y – Strategy Development (YSD) is an advanced course on business strategy, designed to apply the principles and tools of the Strategy Focussed Organisation to the GAC Group’s five-year strategy plan: Vision Y – Global Values (VY-GV). The course aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and tools required to prepare a business plan for a specific area within the GAC Group.

With a strong working knowledge of VY-GV, participants will enhance their ability to support Group, Regional and Business Area strategies through application of the principles of the Strategy Focussed Organisation. Participants will be able to build and interpret strategy maps and balanced scorecards that holistically cover all four perspectives of the business.

The target audience for this course is Senior Management of the GAC Group.

What this course covers:

The course aims to provide participants with knowledge of the theories and processes of the Strategy Focussed Organisation: scorecard fundamentals, translating strategy into operational terms, designing a strategy map and scorecard as well as getting team and management buy-in. It will provide knowledge, skills and techniques that can be applied in understanding and mapping strategy, building scorecards and supporting execution of relevant business area strategies.

At the completion of this course, you will be able to:

• Explain both your contribution towards VY-GV and your specific responsibilities toward GAC Group corporate strategic objectives.
• Explain the “culture of measurement” and demonstrate this concept within your management responsibilities within the GAC World.
• Demonstrate, through application, the principles of the Strategy Focussed Organisation and explain specifically how these principles will be incorporated throughout the five-year VY-GV period.
• Contribute to the development of a VY-GV initiative in a meaningful way by leading a business area or project team
• Develop a first-cut strategy map and balanced scorecard for a business area.
• Critically evaluate measurements and suggest initiatives and remedial actions where appropriate.
• Identify and develop potential measurements for management.
• Collect relevant data to support measures.

How this course will be taught:

Vision Y – Strategy Development (YSD) operates over eight weeks and is delivered via our state-of-the-art interactive online Learning Management System. A compulsory two-day workshop forms part of this course. Participants will select a course based upon a pre-determined workshop location (i.e. Dubai, London or Bangkok).

As team involvement is critical to the success of any strategy initiative, a strong teamwork focus has been used to develop the learning methodology for this course
