ProfileOriginally from Townsville in north-eastern Australia, Kylie began her international journey in 2002. After spending time in Papua New Guinea, Malaysia and Thailand, she and husband, Greg, eventually found their way to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, where Greg took on the role of General Manager, GAC Marine. In an effort to learn more about GAC, Kylie enrolled in the Academy’s IGWG course, which was not only completed with distinction, but lit the fire for further education. She subsequently completed GCA’s GLOL course and is currently undertaking a Basic Counselling Theory and Skills course through an Australian college by distance education. Together with her past administrative experience in various businesses, Kylie’s recent educational forays have helped her clarify a personal strength – the ability to listen actively and assist people in finding the answers and direction they seek. This trait was obviously apparent to others, hence the invitation to become a course facilitator for GCA. Kylie relishes the prospect of delving further into lifelong learning with GCA, especially in areas of self-development, such as Personal and Professional Development (PPD). Her situation also demonstrates that with today’s eLearning technology, as exemplified by GCA, remote location is no longer a barrier to educational opportunity. Kylie looks forward enthusiastically to interacting with GAC personnel from around the world in her role as a course facilitator. |
